LOVE oats
whaaaatssss up people !! Sorry to all my fans for all these years of abandonment. (by fans i mean sorry, miguel and mom? did you ever see this mom?? =..() I was living la vida loca.
SOOO. HABITS. You know , we normally have the habit of picking up habits for self-destruction.
We form habits because is a way for us to automate certain behavior and release RAM memory from our brains to worry about other shait. and bullshit ourselves without self judgement.
But people who actually like themselves build positive habits.:::: I will tell you a simple habit you can pick up that will change your life....readyy?!? 3.....2.......1
EAT OATS. every morning.
WHY? because is good for your body, for your mind, for your time , your poo, da systemz.
No matter if you are not hungry, if "i yont like it, ña ña ña bla bla bla imma baby".... I grew up without breaking the fast and therefore became a gangsta. This habit has changed my crazy ways.
HOW to it ? You just make a dry mixture of oats with some other good stuff in a big tupper ware and BOOM shakalaka ! you have breakfast for a month.
Oats
Cinnamon powder
+
Some kind of dried fruits: like cranberries, raisins, bananas, dates. coco flakes, dry fruits mixes.
Some kind of seeds: e.g. sunflower, pumpkin seeds, quinona , chia , flax, sesame, amaranth…
some nuts , maybe? : walnuts, almonds , cashews, hazelnuts , peanuts, pecans etc...
These last ingredients consider your region, what is there locally available?
Then , in the morning when u wake up or get to work you can just boil water , pour it over... maybe pour a bit of some non-dairy milk for the flavour and cream. OFC fresh fruits are welcome.
WARNING. if you make it right your body might force you to go on monovoric on a diet exclusively of this musli mix. I sometimes eat it for days. It takes some days to develop the taste... just stick to it , 21 days they say, is the right window for adopting new habits... I think is bullshait but you can try and let me know.
Take the breakfast decision out of your morning computations..... no need to spend one single second on this and no good to be starving in the morning. The body is hungry and if you give it nice things, it will give you nice things back. ..keep the oats it prepared, store it and be happy =)
If you have this for breakfast with coffee or tea and you are not sitting at the toilet having a divine moment 5 minutes after your last scoop we'll give you your money back !
No need to believe me , even smart people like Tesla reached this conclusion (he was even more fan than me). Read his paper. :
"There is no doubt that some
plant food, such as oatmeal, is more economical
than meat, and superior to it in regard to both
mechanical and mental performance.
Such food, moreover, taxes our digestive organs decidedly
less, and, in making us more contented and sociable,
produces an amount of good difficult to estimate.
In view of these facts every effort should be
made to stop the wanton and cruel slaughter of
animals, which must be destructive to our morals.
To free ourselves from animal instincts and appetites,
which keep us down, we should begin at the
very root from which we spring: we should effect a
radical reform in the character of the food."
- Tesla
Special thanks to Dan and Simon who both contributed to my adoption of this morning habit.
Fancy version
take normal oats…roast them in oil a bit Add some honey and move and move and let it caramelize and add the ingredients above.

garlic mayonnaise + brussels sprouts
you put this into a big glass and let it sit so the oil-vinagre phases separate
1 cup oil ( olive or canola)
1 egg yolk ( only the yolk)
1 spoon of mustard ( dijon is better)
3 o 4
garlic clove (smash them completely or grind them extra finely)
2 teaspoons of vinegar and optional 1 tsp lemon juice
with a mixer. you go all the way to the bottom of the glass and let it re- sit again… Then start giving pulses till you start seeing the magical emulsification process happening before your eyes.
Hold your emotions and keep coming up slowly and gently like if u wanted to give a good impression ;) until everything is transformed into a tasty , thick goodness like the one in the picture.
-shit is so good u could eat it by itself.
-shit is so good u could eat it by itself.
ok . maybe I will give CPR to this blog. really what happens is that I was doing my thesis so I was just eating directly from the fridge and on the fridge…. and then , nomadic life and also I broke my camera while doing an involuntary backflip in my second try at snowboarding last winter. excuses , excuses , i know

TEA - Eucalyptus + Bougainvillea
just use 60% bougainvillea leaves and 40% eucalyptus . bring it to the first boil and stop ! don't over boil . Add honey if you want.
This is perfect for cold season . therapeutical .
bougainvillea reliefs throat issues and coughing in a magical way .
eucalyptus clears the airways and detoxes .
I want to make clear that I do not recommend to plant any tree or bush that is not native for your region.
There are always great local plants to make lots of nice teas.
Mexico , and many regions, suffered a history of eucalyptus plantations for several reasons. One of them was that more than 100 years ago , an eucalyptus plantation campaign took place to prevent malaria and such mosquito-related illness. Other reasons where paper and pulp industries , like in the amazons in brazil.
You can read short and concise about the role of eucalyptus plantations as an epidemiological prevention measure , en español. http://www.ejournal.unam.mx/cns/no58/CNS05808.pdf
in short , there were like 60 million eucalyptus planted just in the valley of mexico. in the center of the country. But it is a really destructive plant if set in a foreign environment . as well as the fucking ficus, it should be forbidden in monterrey but its widely spread, even in public spaces.. although no one has seen a ficus last long. they always get cut off or die.. wonder why ? they don't belong there , and they destroy while they are there… i really hate ficus in mexico and ficus lovers . fick u ficus!
In my street there is one eucalyptus tree … and the bougainvillea bushes are in every mexican park.
So , if you live in northeast mexico you'll probably have a lot of chances to do this tea… hope you know how to identify the eucalyptus tree. the trunk is constantly loosing its bark and showing its fresh white trunk and they are normally big … if you are not sure.. take the leaves and smell them… or use your smartphone for good.

Amazing omellet n beans
Put some slices of garlic to roast in butter ! Till they start changing color brown.
Meanwhile beat 2 o 3 eggs (depends on the size of the egg and your hunger)
with some cream in a bowl.
Pour the mixture in the pan and add all the ingredients.
In this case you can see tomatoes , mushrooms , cheese and some chili slices.
you can use whatever you like.
Important: add oregano, thyme, salt and pepper ….and chili powder if u like.
yeaaah tricky part. fold it like a taco with spatula… and then it roasted from a side … and you have to flip it !!!! just do it , you can do it . just flip it in the air and catch it !!!!
otherwise you will poke it all and it won't be fun . plus it looks so cool to flip shit in the pan.
taraaaa.. you can pimp up the beans as explained in a previous post . even if they are canned.
this is amazing for brunch . hangover.
this is what my good old friend Riley used to cook for me when I woke up destroyed back in montreal .
riley : carpenter , bike mechanic , sensorial gansta. cook, excellent colloquist , beer brewer. empirical scientist.
i miss you homz.
montreal friends , always in da heart.
bon appetite. =)

black beans and instant couscous
Couscous
It is instant. You pour boiling water on it a finger above the couscous in a plate and cover it.
See that it gets hydrated and cooked
Then you add olive oil or butter, tomatoes , coriander and some olives ! or whatever. zucchini etc...
if you look for the word "instant" in the dictionary you find "couscous".
Black beans soaking in water for 24 hours. Then, I followed Simon´s advice : boil them with pieces of onion, garlic , salt, bay leaf, cumin, some chili powder till soft.
Serve them with fresh lime and Coriander.
Not shitty fast food. But good food fast.

Aztec Drink : Tepache . (yes , making alcohol in my closet)
Its basically Fermented Pineapple
With the SKIN of the pineapple…. you can make a really refreshing and delicious alcoholic beverage.
You need to dissolve about a cup of brown sugar in 2 or 2.5 liters of water.
Add some cinnamon … if you have the actual bark is better… and a couple of cloves and allspice grains.
Mix well and then add the pineapple skins to it… you have to try it every day till u feel the alcohol…
Put it in a pot .. if you have a clay pot is better… i think maybe because earth respects more the properties… earth respects itself.
Cover with a piece of cloth or shirt … whatever but allow it to breathe.
when you feel it starts getting bitter and you feel the alcohol add a cup of beer and more sugar … mix and let it for one more day.
for me it took about 5 days to feel the alcohol and then 1 more day after i added the beer and sugar.
Check it everyday… this is an alchemy process … certainly there is no recipe you could follow.
Mine was delicious. but still not like my grandma does it….
Miss u so much grandma . i promise ill help u cook all the xmas stuff ! =)
Salud !
wikipedia says.
The word Tepache originates from the Opata tepatzi which later became Tepachi and Tepache. … Opata is a language related to aztec… denominated "Uto-Aztecan" according to wiki.
For its simplicity . this drink is commonly made inside the mexican prisons.

this was the idea of my guest star cooker anabela.
i know… is too bad to buy pineapples and bananas in europe… but i took it from the waste outside the market …
so it hopefully won't get registered as somebody bought it and account for the next imports.

Resurrection Emergency Snack
What is this? I Like it !
=)
Have you been in the situation that you had a long day . you are fucking starving . and you have a sport course in 15 minutes ?
You don't want to eat so much and throw up while making backflips , but you definitely need something entering da systemz.
Well. I had that yesterday. So I sliced an apple. putted some peanut butter. some pirate yogurt as I told u before and jam.
Is the lil push you sometimes need to prevent you from fainting.
You can close it like a sandwich if you have a detachable jaw or just eat it in two slides.
I took this idea from a picture I saw in a Facebook page called " Recetas Chingonas " … I know.. you'll be thinking .."but he said he didn't used recipes =S " .. fuck you !! I said I normally don't use or don't follow them … but this group is the boss and its enough to look at the pics to get ideas !

Food from Transylvania ?
Food in Transylvania , Rumania
I had to wait for 2 hours for my friend El Joaco to arrive to the Targu Mures airport. So I wandered around the airport , which is only corn fields. I ran into this guy that claimed that he had stolen some infrared binoculars from a US army cargo …and I think he can be saying the truth because I saw a US army plane leaving the airport when I was arriving.
Anyways , we used his super high tech binoculars to look at the chickens and at some corn … hahaha
In a wall near there he had written "cafe" hahha but that was a joke because he had only beer. So I had one with him and his friend had a cup strong alcohol (it was not even noon) . and we discussed things about my origins and I was holding an article on human cooperation on which he had a lot of things to say… unfortunately I can just understand some oral rumanian. Although the written one is pretty clear.
So I was really looking for food and not for beer. So I found this kiosk and asked for a hotdog which was the specialty and only dish in the kiosk. the only kiosk in kilometers…. and when the lady asked me 2 or 3 ? I said 3! I like number 3 more… but never thought she meant what she meant…...
In the mountains, we stayed with Iosef , an eco loco revolutionary with thousands of stories ( e.g. he was deported from Belice in first class) . We went with him to take the cows out for a walk and pick some mushrooms since there aren't any stores up in the mountains ….. we where really motivated to find them …. or else… we would have to eat chess games.
We found some ! and his mom made some farmers polenta with real corn …. and it was amazing.
Just cut the mushrooms from the forest and the chili from the garden in small pieces and fry them with oil till they shrink and become crunchy. For the polenta I'm not sure because the woman didn't wanted us in her kitchen haha but I think Is just boiling corn fluor with some water and salt till all the water is lost and the texture is perfect.
Iosef is trying to persuade all his village to quit using pesticides and try to be self sufficient in every way. He makes the best cheese ever without even adding a chemical coagulant. and marmalades , liquors and other bio stuff. and he is trying to implement some energy systems and passive heating systems and eventually teach this to the community.
So this was breakfast in the mountains.. milk from the cows… but we melted a portion of a chocolate bar we had. and the rest is story. scrambled eggs with chili and salami is what we had at hand.
The cheese is smoked with pine wood and is just perfect.
Cabbage soup with pork ribs… Amazing juice. We wanted to cry out of the greatness.
bio fast food resto in Brasov . local goat meat . stinky and good.
bio fast food resto in Brasov>>>> orgasm, food porn
Beans with meat.
This is the Cluj style cabbage… also made Joaquín cry. is a cabbage full of surprises. like some chorizo and stuff like that. eating and crying out of emotion is normal in cluj
Beans soup with cream , chili and smoked ham.
Anyways. This a glimpse of Transylvania food. with poor textual descriptions because It doesn't even matter If i write a poem about every meal.. you still have to go ! I will go back.

Zucchini Chips
Zucchini chips.
With salsa. for the mexicans.
deers by lynn.
Slices of Zucchini
Soak them in a beaten egg..
And then powder them into a mixture of flour , cheese , pepper , salt and chili flakes.
I guess the ideal cheese would be parmesan and that fine breadcrumbs as the ones you use to make schnitzel.
… but I had only gouda and flour… and it was great…=)
Just put a little bit of olive oil and then into the oven till they become crunchy.

Pirate Yogurt
Pirate Yogurt
This is how to copy/paste your favorite yogurt…=)
How is this possible ? Well . yogurt , by definition , is a living bacterial culture…
So yes.. you are eating living things every time you eat yogurt… yuuuuum.
So we will take that mixture of bacterias that the capitalist multinational company took so much time to domesticate , develop and patent and just put those cute microbes to work for us… forever….without any other wage but milk =)
Soooooooooooo……
Just take you favorite yogurt and take a clean semi-esterilized empty glass jar (or as many jars as you like)…
You just have to make a thin layer of yogurt in the insides of the jar.. be sure that all the inside is covered with a thin layer of yogurt..
To achieve this I just pour it through the inner wall of the jar and then spin it around slowly in an horizontal way till everything is neatly white…
Then just pour some milk above 3.5% fat inside…till the very top and close it tight…
You have to fill it to the very top because fermentation should be anaerobic… so…don't leave place for oxygen.
Leave it for 12 hours in a warm place…whatever works.. this time I just left it in my cupboard.
After 12 hours the exponential growth of the lactic bacteria is almost reaching its peak… so you can take into the fridge to continue the fermentation there…
The fermentation time is proportional to the viscosity of the yogurth.
You must experiment.. but here are some thumb rules:
12 hours makes a pretty runny yogurt … after that is starts getting thicker and thicker…
Do not open the jar constantly just to see how its doing because you can pollute it…
Flavor
Add flavor… honey , vanilla extract if u are in mexico… pumping seed oil if you are in austria… grains , fruits , whatever…
I normally use if for smoothies … so I leave it like that.
Sterilization process.
I just add some boiling water inside the empty jar for a while… and close the lid to increase the pressure inside…. if you are obsessive compulsive you can additionally put the closed jar in boiling water.
Ive done this with the best care and with the least care… and it has never been contaminated.. so I guess it will work either way as long as you don't live in a shit hole or beatbox spitting above your yogurt.
Good news! Ive invited my friend Simon to run this blog and he said ok !!!
He is also an empirical gangsta cook like us !! Only that he is a very good one !
He and his girl Allison are always surprising the friends with amazing hi tech lovely food for our bellies and our smiles !! Looking forward for the first post !!
peace

Psychedelic smoothie
I don't get why people choose to live without smoothies.

=
Frozen sorted berries
Little bit of orange juice
brrrrrrruuuuuuumm (in the mixer)
then a banana .. then more juice and natural or vanilla yogurt.
blend and mix
or add more stuff until you reach the volume you want… delicious.
u can add some honey or vanilla extract if you live in mexico, for example…
I will update this post and tell you how to pirate your favorite yogurt soon… because I haven't taken pictures of that….

This post is dedicated to Tove …with whom I share, among lots of things, a passion for smoothies =) She also made my summer by giving me shelter when I was homeless… I had fun using her rebel blender everyday and then enjoying awesome readings from the author after whom she is named : Tove Jansson. Tack så mycket.
skål!
Great way to start a sunny day from the view from my balcony… =)
